Pause & Process: For More Peace and Pleasure

Lately, I’ve felt called to show up a little differently. While I’ve shared many Positive Reframe videos as a therapist, I want to meet you here simply as a fellow human navigating a world full of change. There is so much happening, personally, collectively, and globally, and while change can be good, it can also feel like too much, too fast, too soon. I know my own nervous system has needed more gentleness, and that’s what inspired me to create space for pausing and processing together.

We live in a 24/7 stimulated society, and our nervous systems were never meant to handle this much input without rest or reflection. When we don’t have a safe place to process what we’re experiencing, stress and trauma can get stored in the body and show up as conflict, illness, or emotional shutdown. Therapy, to me, isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you; it’s about having a safe place to slow down, make sense of your experience, and reconnect with yourself. This is why I’m offering regular moments of collective pause, to normalize care, compassion, and nervous system support.

One of the simplest and most powerful ways I start sessions is with conscious breathing. Deep, slow breaths, especially longer exhales, send a message of safety to the nervous system and help ease fight, flight, or freeze responses. Breathing may feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable at first, and that’s okay. With curiosity and kindness, these small pauses can help us listen to our bodies, meet our needs, and align our choices with the values we want to live by. You are not meant to do this alone, and even a few moments of presence can begin to create more ease, connection, and resilience.

Positive Reframe shares resources with the intent of the positive progression of informed decision-making related to issues associated with emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual wellness. While I share personal and professional perspectives, my writings reflect my personal opinion and are not intended to substitute professional advice, diagnosis, and treatment thus the content shared on this page is for informational purposes only. This online medium does not lend itself to the level of detail and rapport building required for thorough assessment and therapeutic intervention. To make well-informed decisions that best meet your family’s unique needs, I highly recommend exploring and researching available options, consulting primary healthcare providers, engaging in respectful dialogue with friends and family as well as seek referrals from a trusted source for professional counseling.
