Why We Need to Pause and Process
I created the Pause & Process series because our nervous systems were not designed to handle the constant stimulation of modern life. With endless information, responsibilities, and stressors coming at us 24/7, we need healthy outlets to process and express what feels overwhelming, confusing, or painful. When we fail to do so, stress can accumulate and impact our emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
The Impact of Trauma and Disconnection
In this episode, I reflect on the tragic story of a family murder-suicide and the importance of understanding how trauma affects people. Trauma can disrupt our sense of connection, access to resources, and ability to think clearly. It dysregulates the nervous system and can contribute to struggles in our health, relationships, and daily functioning. This is why creating safe spaces to process difficult emotions and experiences is so important.
Healing Through Connection and Reflection
Although technology has brought many advances, it has also introduced new stressors and distractions. Our bodies and minds still need the basics: nature, sunlight, fresh air, rest, and meaningful human connection. As a society, we often do not provide enough safe opportunities to process grief, sadness, and negative thoughts. Healing takes time, and grief cannot be rushed. By making space to pause, reflect, and process our experiences, we can support our nervous systems and move toward greater peace, resilience, and well-being.
